Since a transcriptionist is paid by the number of lines produced, the software was designed to allow the transcriptionist to be in a production mode most of the time, increasing the number of lines produced. Transcriptionists are no longer required to research information, print transcriptions, cover letters or envelopes. Production is key to a transcriptionist that is paid on a per line basis.
